Biography

 

    Jack Pontes is a graduate of York University's Fine Arts program with a major in painting. He then taught visual arts in Toronto at Merit Academy

for 11 years. He has exhibited his art work at The London Public Art Gallery, the Samuel J. Zacks Gallery, Toronto Harbour Castle, The Fiorano Art Gallery and The Opera House. In 2007 he painted a 40 by 12 metre wall mural in Maia, Sao Miguel, Portugal. He also worked as a portrait artist for Genesis Creations Inc. located in Parkersberg West Virginia.

    Jack also enjoys writing songs and music; primarily musicals based on biblical stories. He has written shows such as, "Daniel the Dreamer", "Micah and the Mountain" and "Job: the Sire of Sorrows". In 2007 he staged his musical, "Noah and the Ark" at St. Leonard's School in North York. He has written numerous pop, folk and country songs as well; most of which can be seen on his You Tube Channel. His most popular

songs are, "Hush Little Baby", "A Father's Day", "Wounded Soldier" and "Heaven Upstairs".

    In the realm of literature Jack has also written many poems and children's stories. His most well known poem, "The Bull Fight" was featured on 'Yahoo Glue' as an example of Lyric Poetry. His most popular children's story is, "Tedium the Dragon Hunter"which received a stellar review from Makeda Silvera at the North York Public Library.
